State troopers were dispatched to the 200 block of David Hall Road in the Rodney Village community for a report of a shooting just after 7 p.m. that day.

Arriving troopers found Burrage, who was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to his upper body.

A preliminary investigation found that a physical altercation between Burrage and an unknown person occurred before the shooting in or near the vehicle.

"After the conflict, the suspect fled the scene," said Master Cpl. Heather Pepper, a state police spokeswoman. "The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene by Emergency Medical Services."
