Police still looking for driver of car that hit, killed man in Ogletown; victim ID'd

The 49-year-old man who was killed in a hit-and-run crash that occurred just after midnight in Ogletown on Saturday has been identified.

Delaware State Police were called to Route 273 (Christiana Road), east of South Brownleaf Road, for reports of the crash. There, they found Mark Gainer,of Newark, critically injured.

He was rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Through their investigation, troopers determined that at about 12:08 a.m., a car was driving east on Route 273 when Gainer entered the road. He was on foot.

The car hit Gainer then sped away. Troopers continue to search for the vehicle.

Police have not provided a description of the car.
